Winter vacation and skiing vacation in Maria Alm on the Hochkönig

Hochkönig ski area

With the construction of the new Sonnbergbahn and the connection from Natrun to the Aberg, the village of Maria Alm becomes a classic ski in - ski out destination thanks to the direct connection to the Hochkönig ski area. Just 100 m from the Leitner holiday nest, you can start the royal tour from the 2018/2019 winter season at the likewise new Natrun valley station.

The Hochkönig ski area is definitely one of the top ski regions in the Alps. 150 kilometers of perfectly connected slopes - 34 state-of-the-art lifts and should the natural snow fail, over 400 snow cannons and lances provide the necessary artificial snow.

The Hochkönig ski region is part of Ski amadé!

The development of the Hochkönig region has also impressed the trade press in recent years. The region has received many awards, including those for the King's Tour.

The King's Tour

The KING'S TOUR connects the three towns of Maria Alm with the districts of Hintermoos and Hinterthal, Dienten and Mühlbach to one of the most unique and longest ski tours in the Alps. Always in view and almost within your grasp, you have the impressive mountain cave of the Hochkönig and the Steinerne Meer. You get to 5 peaks on the Königstour, cover an incredible 6700 vertical meters on 32 kilometers of slopes. Winter holidays on the Hochkönig are so spectacular! Of course you can only drive parts of the King's Tour.

Fun slope Schönanger

Boarding up and down the slopes all day long doesn't get enough action? Then the 850 m long fun slope with its steep curves, a wave track and a monstrous giant snail etc. at Schönanger is just the thing for you!

FREE WiFi surfing on the slopes

From the last ski season, a new app is available for your winter holiday on the slopes of the Hochkönig ski area. This answers questions such as:

Which slope leads directly to the next hut?
What is the level of difficulty of the descent?
Where can I take the most beautiful photo and post it online right away?

Night skiing in Maria Alm

3 times a week - every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6.30pm to 9.30pm! (1 x free with theHochkönig Card) you can pack your skis in the dark and do your nightly turns on the illuminated slope at the Simmerllift in Maria Alm, about 200 m from the Leitner holiday nest. Of course, the refreshment stop in the bars directly on the slopes, the quaint Dorfstadl or the Postalm is also part of it!

Night ski show

Every Tuesday, with free entry, the local ski schools offer you a spectacle with the night ski show that you must see. Nostalgia skiers show you how to start skiing, freestylers dare brave jumps over the large hill and you experience the impressive torchlight descent. Even our mascot Schneewutzel can be seen on skis.

Winter activities off the slopes

Toboggan runs

A toboggan run in the evening or on a snowy day that does not invite you to ski fun is actually a must for your winter holiday on the Hochkönig! In Maria Alm there are two toboggan runs from popular mountain inns, the Jufenalm or the Kronreithhof. You can either hike there comfortably, but there is also the option of a taxi service.
